Research has shown that halogen-containing flame retardant materials, which include polymerized polybrominated biphenyls PBB, polymerized polybrominated biphenyl ethers PBDE, because they will emit dioxin (TCDD), benzofuran (Benzfuran), etc. furthermore, the amount of smoke is large, the smell is unpleasant, so there are highly toxic gases, it is carcinogenic, and it cannot be discharged after being ingested by the body, which seriously affects health.

Some sections are different from the normal FR4 production

Lamination

The first is the lamination parameters, because the sheets of different companies may be different. Take the SY substrate and PP for example, in order to ensure the full flow of the resin and make the bonding force good, this requires a lower sheet heating rate (1.0-1.5℃/min) and multi-stage pressure coordination. In addition, in the high-temperature stage, It requires a longer pressing time, generally maintained at 180 ℃ for more than 50 minutes

Drilling

The Tg point of halogen-free materials is generally higher than that of ordinary copper clad laminates. Therefore, the drilling parameters of ordinary FR-4 are used for Tg materials,  the effect is generally not very satisfactory. When drilling halogen-free laminates, some compensation should be made under normal drilling conditions.
